ANANTAPUR: Paritala Ravindra's wife P Sunitha has a fight on her hand with V Rajanna, a former close aide of her husband's family and a TDP rebel candidate in the Rapthadu assembly constituency. What bugs Sunitha is that Rajanna, a native of Vepakunta village in Kanaganipalli mandal, has declared himself a political successor of her husband.Sources said Rajanna shifted his family to Hyderabad after developing differences with his mentor, Paritala.
After lying low, the factionist, prodded by his followers, threw his hat into the ring to test his luck in electoral politics.
Wasting no time, he rejoined the TDP and shifted his family to his native village, much to the chagrin of Sunitha and her followers. He has already begun touring various villages in the Rapthadu constituency to strike a rapport with the voters."I am sure the villagers are with me and I have no doubt in my mind that they see me as Paritala's true successor," he asserted. Sources said though senior TDP leaders of the district are pressurising him to withdraw from the race, he would have none of it. Sources said he would back out at the last minute. As if Rajanna's rebellion wasn't enough, former naxal leader Pothula Suresh's wife has entered the fray from two assembly segments as TDP rebel. Vavilala Sunitha, a former ZPTC member in Mahbubnagar district, filed nominations from Penukonda and Dharmavaram constituencies."My husband has served Anantapur district and stood up against Congress repression. And if the TDP high command does not recognise my family's services, I leave it to their conscience," she said. She said she would spare no efforts to win from both the factionist-ridden constituencies. Suresh was a top leader of CPI (ML) People's War (ROC) splinter group and a close aide of Paritala. After Congress came to power, he surrendered.
